someone named kiyotewolf has been helping me with art for the monsters and their animations for the battle engine, if anyone has a contribution or thinks they have something neat that is original be it an npc, monster etc, weapon icon... anything at all, just gimmie a shout on this board. latest version can be seen on my youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8MWhUdS_TYthe bland backgrounds when walking around outside of the turn based battle engine are here to stay as gfx was never gonna be a huge thing for me in this game.... its more about crafting a neat dungeon crawler adventure utilizing a 3d maze, with an evil setting. also give credit to basicoder2 on freebasic.net forum for giving me the snake and snake animation.

I've got a working version of a FreeBasic *.WAD file, just like DOOM, but in my own fashion.
It still functions like a *.WAD file. You can put enourmous amounts of data in it.
I'm going to start creating the *.WAD file with the various monsters I have, as well as hosting the images, and then hosting the *.WAD file of the monsters, as well as an image extractor, and code on how to use & make your own *.WAD files.
~Kiyote!
I like making monsters for this game.

you will have to look at my source code and help me to figure out how to add new monsters. i know little of WAD files, its actually easier for me to work with raw 24 bit bitmaps.
untill you get some more monsters lined up im placing the battle screens on hold just so i can flesh out the adventure part of the game a bit more.

Oh, yeah..
I didn't mean to imply that "omg you have to use my file packing method code.. blah blah.."
I was just kinda showing off, but still, the submissions for the art will be regular *.PNG's, like before.
I just wanted to bring it in from the bakery to be smelled, so you guys might see what I've been mixing in my giant mixing bowl.

The color scheme which seems to fit your game the best, is the 16 or is it 32, colors in PAINT.EXE.
I usually try to stick with those colors, when I'm drawing monsters.
Not that more colors aren't glamorous, but I think it fits the simplistic scenery.
:.:
You can get pretty lost in the details.
I think that the way the maze system is, is great.

well the colors for walls right now are: white for stone orange for buildings in town red for the mist boundary the images supported are 24 bit, so shading etc is totally up to you, if you wanted to use various shades of a color you can. this is partly why the game is so big of a footprint already. sorry to clarify a bit more, no limit on actual colors just make sure to save as 24 bit bitmap or my translucent color wont work, use your own judgement. and remember dark is good, i want demons not fluffy wabbits.

i took a look at kiki and some of your other stuff very neat i must admit, i did manage to get kiki to speak although was very hard to figure out the instructions exactly just because there was so many files there.
very nice constructing a window to select files from as well, although on one of them i did have a permission error, but for all i know that could have been a wrong .bas file to attempt to use.

kiyote dont know how often you check here but i am gonna need a witch or a sorceress if you can handle it.
it dosent have to be a witch or a sorceress, it could be some kind of monster but with a friendlier side, so in this case something fluffy or tree like would work extremley well.
hell a Yggdrasil like tree would even work.
trying to convey what i will need based off my storyboard without revealing to much - so anyone who followed it and then plays it wont know the storyline or anything.

actually i think i was wrong, i tried some fancier shading and it messed things up, stick with like the basic 16 colors in paint, im thinking it actually only is supporting 256 colors or less.

Yes, I do remember to check this place periodically.
I put a link to this forum on my regularly used web-links webpage which I host online.
So, tell me about this witch.
You said, both a good and bad guy?
Do you want her green like a usual witch?
~Kiyote!
i apologize for the delay, I'm still trying to make my image editor more user friendly, so I can use IT to do game art with.

I'm glad you got Kiki to work.
Did you get the release package that I had posted in the forums?
:.:
I'm working on self-containing all her extra files, within her code.
Except the verbal dictionary. That's a big file. I dunno if keeping it in user memory is such a hot idea.
I'm going to embed the *.WAV files into large string variables, using Base64 encoding.
It might speed up her recall on speaking, when she is composing words from the bits of speech.
I'm working on her code again as well.
I've got her code contained in a SUB now, and it's much easier to call her up when I want.

thats quite all right, go with your own guy feelings about colors and what you want it to look like if you absolutley need a peice of concept art i can figure out something that looks like what im imagining
i have 6 monsters coded, with 4 in game working
i have a nasty weapon attack bug im tryin to fix and i also expanded the areas a bit more and then added some basic quests for now.

I looked over your code.
You should learn about SELECT CASE.
select case button
case 1 print "one button" case 2 print "two buttons" case else print "EVERYTHING ELSE"
end select.
You always put case else, at the end of such lists.
